Job Overview


Chargebee is seeking a visionary Vice President of Product Engineering to lead our Revenue Growth Management (RGM) Platform Vertical and drive the next phase of growth through strategic RGM initiatives. This role is key to enabling subscription businesses to unlock new monetization models, achieve global compliance, interoperate with revenue systems, and scale financial operations.

As Chargebee expands as a multi-product company, the VP of Platform will be instrumental in creating an integrated and cohesive product experience across all offerings. This role bridges the gap in providing a seamless between Merchant and Developer Experiences, ensuring each product line offers a consistent, differentiated experience to our customers.

Operating across product boundaries, you will unite the merchant and product sides of the business with the technical foundations of our platform. Your leadership will drive commonality within the Chargebee ecosystem, ensuring our platform scales effectively while delivering a seamless, reliable experience for our global customer base.

This role demands a deep understanding of both technology and business, with the strategic vision to align platform initiatives with Chargebee’s growth goals. You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and customer success teams to ensure our platform exceeds the expectations of our global merchants, providing a cohesive and integrated product experience that sets Chargebee apart in the SaaS landscape.

Reporting to the SVP of Engineering, you will lead initiatives across the following four key focus areas:

  • Merchant Experience
  • Developer Experience (DX)
  • Chargebee Data Platform
  • Chargebee Platform Modernization

Responsibilities

  1. Chargebee - Merchant Experience Platform: 
    • Merchant Setup and Onboarding Experience
    • Merchant Operations Experience
    • Merchant Security, Compliance, and Privacy Experience
  2. Chargebee - Developer Experience: 
    • API DX
    • Documentation & Content DX
    • Community DX
  3. Chargebee’s Data Platform: 
    • Data lake strategy development and implementation
    • Integration of common data ingestion methods
    • Enhancement of reporting capabilities
  4. Chargebee - Platform Modernization: 
    • Technical vision and execution of platform modernization initiatives
    • Transformation to a decoupled architecture
    • Development of standardized cloud-based components

Requirements


  • Leadership Experience: 15+ years Experience in leading cross-functional teams and influencing across non-reporting lines. Strong communication skills.
  • Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of platform engineering, including APIs (REST), AWS, cloud technologies, and CI/CD pipelines. Proven experience with distributed systems and modern software development practices.
  • Platform & Business Context: Deep understanding of platform engineering, OLTP and OLAP systems, and database management. Ability to align technical strategies with business goals in a fast-growing SaaS environment, with experience in modernising platforms.
  • Systems Design & Thinking: Expertise in leading architectural transformations and designing scalable systems. Skilled in articulating technical vision and understanding system interactions.
  • Industry Experience: Relevant experience in eCommerce, SaaS, or related fields, with a solid technical education or equivalent practical experience.
